Scooteroo Service and Repair Guide for Australian Scooter Owners
A scooter owner's guide to scooter repair and service from Scooteroo, the leading electric scooter service provider in Australia. This guide will help you maintain your electric scooter properly so you can enjoy it for years to come!
What to Do When Your Scooter Doesn’t Start
We see a lot of scooters that will only start or need an electric scooter repair. You can do a few things before calling us so we can give you the best service possible. The first thing to check is whether your battery is charged. A dead battery will prevent your electric scoot from starting at all.
If it's just not charging, there are three things to try before calling Scooteroo service:
- Take a look at the charger cord, is it plugged in? Is the power on where it's plugged in? Is the wall socket working?
- Check that the plug on your electric scooter is clean and dry.
- Make sure you're using a proper power outlet. For example, some chargers only work with 110v outlets; others only work with 220v outlets.
How to Fix a Flat Tyre
The tyre is an important safety feature to ensure you don't end up without brakes while riding the scooter. If your electric scooter is not moving smoothly or wobbling, this could be due to a flat tyre, so if there is no apparent reason why it isn't running smoothly, check for a possible flat tyre as soon as possible.
You can replace the tyre by removing the wheel, unscrewing the bolt on the outside of the tyre, removing the inner tube, replacing it with a new tube, re-attaching everything in reverse order and test ride.
How to Clean Your Scooter
Cleaning your electric scooter is simple, but it can take some time. Here are some steps to help you get started:
Step 1: Turn off your scoot, disconnect the battery, and remove the key from the ignition.
Step 2: Wait about 30 minutes for any remaining charge to dissipate before cleaning your scoot.
Step 3: Clean the entire exterior of your scooter with soap and water. When washing the tires, use a mild detergent mixed with water in a bucket to scrub them clean.
Step 4: Rinse them with clean water after scrubbing, and air dry them in the sun.
Cleaning Tip: Use an old toothbrush or sponge to scrub any grime from hard-to-reach places like under mudguards and between the frame tubes where the crud has accumulated over time.
How to Replace Your Scooter’s Batteries
Remembering to replace the batteries is key to maintaining an electric scooter repair. If your electric scooter is suddenly not as strong, it could be that the battery needs to be replaced. Luckily, replacing your battery couldn't be easier!
- All you need is a screwdriver and a replacement battery. Two screws on the side of your scooter's seat will need to be unscrewed before you can take off the seat cover.
- Remove the old battery and replace it with the new one by screwing in the new battery using a Phillips head screwdriver.
- Once this is done, just put everything back together by putting back in all of the screws and tightening them.
